::How to Play

Destroy the Web is all about one thing: destruction! In general, experiment destroying different kinds of elements in different order, and aim to clear out the pages completely for extra points. Since the game can be played in any Web page, the outcome is always unpredictable...

Playing the game

:: Press the Destroy the Web button in the Firefox toolbar to start a new game.

:: 3, 2, 1 GO! Start clicking everywhere in the page to destroy its content!

:: You've got 30 seconds to do as much damage as possible...

:: TIME! Once done, submit your score and see how you rank in the leaderboards.

Tips

:: Elements which have other visible elements inside, such as divs and tables, cannot be destroyed until their inner elements have been destroyed. Start by destroying the ones you think are the top.

:: Destroy elements of the same type consecutively to earn bonus combo points.

:: Different kind of elements give you different amounts of points, so watch out!

:: Don't miss! 5 points are deducted when you do. Plus, you get a big bonus if you finish the game without ever missing.

:: Try to clear out the page completely: you'll get extra points any seconds you have left when you do!

:: When an element is destroyed all other elements shift around. Try to predict where the other elements will move to and plan you next move. Also, some will be hidden but are still destroyable, so pay attention.

More tips and features

:: Check out the game preferences. You can access this dialog by going to Tools - Add-ons in the main Firefox menu, then selecting Destroy the Web and clicking the Preferences/Options button. You can:

  • Tweak the explosion animation quality: if you're experiencing low performance try lowering this setting.
  • Enable or disable sound effects and music: you might, for some crazy reason, want to disable this.
  • Place the button in the status bar: some people don't like toolbar buttons, so enable this if you want to put it in the status bar instead.

:: The Destroy the Web button will be enabled until the page has finished loading. You can press it during a game to cancel it.

:: If during a game you navigate away from the page then it will be canceled. This includes: closing the tab, choosing another tab, opening another page, and such.
